Every bale of cotton in the United States is classed by USDA classing offices. This data is available in summary form on the USDA Web site. Using EFS®-USCROP™ software, the data is compiled into reports that can be viewed by classing office or by state. The reports are issued weekly during the classing season.
The data is also compiled and analyzed to track long-term trends and distributions in a simple presentation format, and this data is made available once enough of the crop has been classed to provide a realistic view of overall crop quality. The presentation is used to promote U.S. cotton and to inform users of U.S. cotton about the cotton quality for a crop year. The presentation is also updated weekly and final presentation slides are released when the USDA releases the final crop report for a season.
