Vikki Martin is Vice President, Fiber Competition for Cotton Incorporated. As a textile chemist and third-generation textile worker, Martin leads research on cotton quality measurements, as well as systems that aid with utilizing fiber quality data from the ginning to the spinning portions of the textile industry. She is an expert in fiber differences, laundry care, fiber quality metrics, product testing and evaluation, and traceability.
Vikki began her career at Cotton Incorporated in 2001 as a Textile Chemist in the Textile Chemistry Research department, where she played an integral part in the development and implementation of the initial WICKING WINDOWS™ technology. In 2005 she transitioned to the Fiber Quality Research area where she became responsible for the assembly and reporting of U.S. Upland crop data and management of all outside Fiber Quality Research project activities.
In her current role, as head of the Fiber Competition division, she oversees the development and marketing of a suite of software tools used by merchants and spinning mils to aid with logistics and optimization of cotton usage. Seeing the evolving cotton industry needs, her team has taken on the role of understanding traceability requirements and challenges.
