Cotton Biotechnology Workshops
The second Cotton Biotechnology Workshop sponsored by Cotton Incorporated was held in Irving, TX on September 19, 2013. The first part of the workshop, “Transformation technologies, gene expression, trait development,” addressed current and future challenges in developing new technologies for cotton genetic transformation leading to the introduction of new traits. The second part, “Cotton biotechnology research in the public sector,” stimulated useful and constructive discussions about intellectual property and patenting regulations. The workshop concluded with an intense and stimulating brainstorming discussion on the role of public researchers in today’s cotton biotechnology.
