South Plains Profitability Project

Supported by a grant from the Texas Cotton State Support Committee.

The goals of the South Plains Profitability Project are to:

  1. Develop a spreadsheet tool to enable South Plains farmers to quickly and accurately evaluate the relative profitability of all relevant crops.
  2. Keep the spreadsheet updated with current costs and prices.
  3. Train producers in workshops or by other methods to effectively utilize the spreadsheet to increase their level of profitability

The spreadsheet can be downloaded from the South Plains Profitability, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and is available to anyone to use. If you would prefer the spreadsheet mailed to you on a CD along with other suporting information, call Jackie Smith at 806-746-6101.

Comparative Profitability Spreadsheet

This spreadsheet was developed as part of a project supported by the Texas Cotton State Support Committee. The overall objective of the project is to provide the tools and the data along with the skills to evaluate the potential profitability of alternative crops for the 2013 crop year. Several workshops will be taught to teach producers to use the spreadsheet to more accurately compare profitability.
